Lisa and Gerid first met at University of Michigan (Yay! Go Blue!) during their freshman year of college. A year later, they ran into each other again and it just clicked. They dated throughout college and last year, Gerid took Lisa to Chicago to celebrate New Year’s Eve with a promise that they were picking up a puppy there. What Lisa didn’t know was that Gerid was actually planning to propose instead. As the clock was counting down to midnight, Gerid took Lisa up to a rooftop patio overlooking Chicago and got down on one knee. They were married a few weeks ago at Weller’s Carriage House in Saline, MI outside under the most beautiful greenery covered gazebo. The aisle Lisa walked down towards her forever was a gorgeous tree lined path that formed a canopy above her. If there was one word to sum up their wedding day (other than insanely beautiful), it would be love. There was so much love and support around them the entire day, from Lisa’s wonderful mom and sisters, her Dad who was there in spirit and remembered through so many little touches (his Michigan hat, a seat saved for him next to Lisa’s mom during the ceremony and the photo of him Lisa held in her hands as she got ready to walk down the aisle), to Gerid’s parents, all of their best friends in the bridal party (Who I seriously want to be BFF’s with! They were all so happy and made the day so much fun!) and the rest of their family and friends in attendance. Lisa was seriously the most stunning bride in her beautiful Lauren Elaine dress and Gerid looked so handsome in his fitted grey suit and bow tie. As I was taking their bride and groom portraits after the ceremony, I think I told them like ten times that these photos of them seriously could be on a magazine cover!
Even though it rained in the morning while the girls were at the salon getting ready, the rain held off long enough for the ceremony to remain outdoors, for us to finish photos and for everyone to head outside to Weller’s covered patio to light sparklers for their first dance. The rain did come back later in the evening, but it didn’t dampen the mood at all! Everyone was having too much fun to even notice!
I had photographed Gerid’s Uncle’s wedding last Summer (Hi Dave & Donna!) and Gerid’s cousin, Natasha, was recently at a Bridal Shower I photographed for one of my September brides, and it was so great seeing familiar faces again at Lisa and Gerid’s wedding! I always feel so honored and grateful when my couples don’t just treat me as a wedding day vendor, but instead welcome me in and treat me like family for the day as I photograph their wedding. Thank you Lisa and Gerid for not only being so kind and gracious towards me, but for allowing me to document day one of your marriage! Much love and happiness to you both! xo, Jen
