Classic, timeless & elegant are the only words to describe this beautiful Grosse Pointe War Memorial Wedding. Kathy & John were married on the 23rd of November surrounded by family & friends who gathered from near and far to celebrate their marriage. When planning the day, Kathy took inspiration from two iconic Kennedy women, Jackie & Carolyn, as well as from the Royal Weddings and I think she absolutely nailed that classic, timeless look she was going for. Kathy & John met at work when they both ended up in the same meeting. John said it was love at first sight when he laid eyes on Kathy and as a result, fumbled his way through the meeting. They became friends after that meeting a few months later, went on their first date. Fast forward a few years, John proposed in front of the fireplace at the home they just purchased together and a year later, they celebrated right down the road with a beautiful Grosse Pointe War Memorial Wedding. With a A Lovely Day leading the planning of the event, it was a day to remember for all!!
Their wedding day started in Detroit for John & in Grosse Pointe for Kathy. Kathy wore the most beautiful long, lace robe as she was getting ready with the cutest satin pom pom slippers from Birdies before changing into a classic satin boat neck gown from the Wedding Shoppe with a row of buttons following the deep V down the back. Kathy’s mom and sister helped button her into the dress and her sister placed her cathedral length veil in her hair before she did a first look with her bridesmaids. Their reaction to seeing their friend in her wedding dress was everything!!!
Before the ceremony, Kathy headed out to the back steps of the War Memorial for a first look with John. This was one of my FAVORITE moments of the day, because as soon as she opened the doors & saw John, she ran down the steps and straight into his arms with the biggest smile on her face!! It was such a cute moment!! We took portraits around the grounds of the War Memorial before heading over to Saint James Lutheran Church for the ceremony where Kathy’s dad walked her down the aisle. After reciting their vows to one another, they excited the church to all their guests cheering and everyone headed back over to the War Memorial to get the party started! One of my favorite moments from the reception was John’s dad watching his wife & his son dance together and wiping away tears out of his eyes. It was such a special moment for their family!
Kathy & John, I don’t even know where to start with you two & your beautiful wedding day! It has been such a pleasure getting to know you both this year and getting to meet all of your family and friends! I hope you absolutely love these pictures & all of the memories they encapsulate from your perfect day! Wishing you two nothing but love & happiness together! Much love, Jen. xx
