Megan & Tommy moved their big wedding reception to next year but were still so excited to get married on their original wedding date last month surrounded by their closest family & friends!! The morning started for both of them at the Atheneum Hotel downtown! Megan and her girls popped bottles of champagne while getting ready and had their suite at the hotel hopping with an awesome wedding day playlist while they got their hair & make-up done! Megan’s mom & Maid of Honor helped her into her stunning lace dress and we captured her bridal portraits before heading out to meet up with Tommy for their first look! He walked up to her on the streets of Greektown and tapped her on her shoulder! I love first looks so much and it was such a sweet moment for them.
After taking a few quick photos, it was time to head to the church! Megan & Tommy had the most beautiful Sweetest Heart of Mary wedding! Sweetest Heart of Mary is such a stunning church and the level of detail inside of it simply breathtaking! it’s definitely one of my favorite historic churches in Detroit! After bring pronounced husband & wife, Megan & Tommy exited the church to their Flower Grandma (instead of Flower Girl…. cutest thing ever) throwing petals on them as they kissed!! I think Flower Grandma’s need to be a new thing! It was such a fun twist on a wedding day tradition!
Afterwards, we headed out around Detroit to capture more portraits of the two of them & their wedding party! I’m obsessed with the Vanity Fair style wedding party portrait I captured for them!! These photos always take a good 10-15 minutes to set up, but are always SO worth it!! We were dealing with being in a legit wind tunnel, but their group was so patient and up for the challenge & they absolutely rocked it! It was such a great day from start to finish & I’m so excited that they were still able to get married this year!
Megan & Tommy, thank you so much for trusting me to document your wedding day! I’ve enjoyed getting to know you both over the last year so much & I hope you love & cherish these photos in the years to come!! Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness together! Much love, Jen. xx.
