They say rain on your wedding day is good luck and if you believe that saying, then these two received lots of it. There was torrential downpour and lightning almost the entire day of Jessica and Eric’s wedding, and despite the wrench that mother nature threw into their plans, these two made the best of it! When I arrived at Hotel Indigo in Naperville the morning off the wedding, the first thing Jessica said to me as she was getting her hair done was that she had a freak out about the weather thatmorning, but then she read the note that Eric had written for her to read later in the day and it totally calmed her down. That just goes to show the effect that Eric has on Jessica and the type of love they share! I’ve gotten to know these two over the past three years (If Jessica looks familiar, it’s because she’s the sister of one of my past brides, Michelle, who I photographed her and her husband’s Indian wedding ceremony & their traditional American wedding ceremony a year later)! I had been looking forward to heading back to the Chicago area all year to capture these two saying I do.
Even though the skies were gloomy, joy and happiness was evident all day long! From the smile on Jessica’s face when she looked at Eric after they were married, to her and her bridesmaids beautiful, bright florals by one of the best wedding floral design studios in Chicago, Vale of Enna, and the cute turquoise trolley that carted the bridal party from the church to the reception! The photos of Jess & Eric walking in the rain to get on the trolley after they were married are some of my favorites from the entire day! The smiles on their faces say it all, plus photos with cute umbrella’s in the rain with a cute trolley in the background are always a plus in my book!
One of my favorite parts of their wedding day was seeing just how very loved and cherished these two are by their friends and family during the toasts at the reception. From Jessica’s dad giving a sweet toast where he talked about the beautiful woman Jessica is inside and out, to Eric’s best men sharing the moment when they knew how serious he was about Jess. Michelle and Jessica have such a special relationship and she gave the sweetest maid of honor speech about growing up with Jess and her experience as her older sister and it made me laugh so much because so much of it paralleled me and my younger sister’s relationship (even down to telling her she was adopted when we were little)!!
Jessica & Eric, thank you for inviting me in and once again allowing me to be part of your family for the day!! I’m so honored to have been able to document day one of your marriage (rain and all) for you to look back on with fond memories and laughter as the years go by. Fingers crossed that we can keep the three year streak going and I’ll once again capture a wedding you’ll be at next year! ;) I hope you love and cherish these photographs always! Much love, Jen. xx
