I first met Kasey 13 years ago when I sat next to her at a concert. We exchanged email addresses and were pen pals for a while before we started planning visits to hang out with each other. We lived in two different countries, but that didn’t stop us from becoming fast friends! From countless trips to Toronto, her visiting me in Los Angeles and Michigan and an epic trip to New York City when Kasey’s mom flew me out without her knowing to surprise her there for her birthday weekend, I have the best memories from hanging out with her (including meeting Zac Efron together at the Toronto International Film Festival)!! I was so honored that she asked me to be the one to document her wedding day as she married Tyler, who is just perfect for her in every way!!
The day started out at the gorgeous new Hotel X in Toronto, which has THE BEST views of the city from their rooftop deck. I knew it would make such an iconic spot for photos! Kasey & her bridesmaids were having a blast the morning of the wedding, sipping veuve while getting their hair and make-up done and listening to music. The girls were all so excited for Kasey and one of my favorite moments was when after we took a cute photo of the girls in their pj’s on the couch, Kasey and one of her bridesmaids started jumping up and down on it so excited that she was getting married that day! Kasey’s Maid & Matron of Honor helped her into her dress and it was an emotional moment for everyone in the room when the dress went on. Kasey lost her mom a little over a year ago and she had her wedding rings with her so that her mom was close by. Once the dress was on, Kasey & her dad shared a cute first look before it was time for Kasey to head to the roof to see Tyler! Tyler had the biggest smile on his face when he turned around and saw Kasey walking up to him and couldn’t help but wipe the tears from his eyes after seeing his beautiful bride. It was pretty sunny on the roof, but luckily we had some cloud cover move in just long enough to get some amazing photos of the two of them with the stunning Toronto skyline and waterfront in the background!
The ceremony took place at Palais Royale, right on the waterfront in Toronto. They were married on a deck overlooking the water and their officiant did such a wonderful job incorporating the memory of Kasey’s mom into the ceremony. Kasey & Tyler read their hand-written vows to one another and Kasey’s dad, who wanted to do something different & untraditional at her & Tyler’s wedding, gave his speech during the ceremony instead of later at the reception! Afterwards, guests enjoyed mingling with Kasey & Tyler at cocktail hour & they even managed to sneak off and dance along to the acoustic guitarist playing during cocktail hour as he sang their favorite song Crazy, Beautiful, Sexy by Old Dominion.
Kasey was the happiest and most excited bride I have ever seen at her wedding, but that makes total sense, because that’s just Kasey. Kasey & Tyler, I was so honored to be able to witness you two become husband and wife and even more honored to have been able to document it for you to relive forever. I hope you both love and cherish these photographs for years to come! Wishing you both a forever of happiness!!! Much love, Jen. xx
