Where oh where do I even begin? This past Saturday marked the start of my 2017 wedding season and I could not have had a better couple to kick it off with! Zach and Kelly were married this past Saturday at the Gem Theater in Detroit on a gorgeous Michigan spring day! The sun was shining and it made for such beautiful sun-kissed portraits around Downtown Detroit! We ventured around the city streets taking pictures in some beautiful Detroit spots full of that classic city architecture. We even got to sneak in to an empty Comerica Park, where the Detroit Tigers play and Kelly works, for some photos. I swear, everywhere we turned, Zach and Kelly ran into someone they knew! Most of their wedding guests flew in from out of state and it was so fun seeing their friends and family out enjoying the city before the wedding! Zach and Kelly met through mutual friends back when they lived in Seattle. Zach’s band was playing and Kelly went to check them out. His guitar skills on stage impressed her and the rest was history!
The love these two have for each other was so evident throughout the day! One of my favorite moments was after the ceremony, when I found them in the upper balcony of the Gem, champagne in hand, enjoying a quiet moment by themselves right after they said I do. The day was filled with many emotional moments, tears all around during toasts and sweet embraces when friends and family were near. It was also filled with laughs too, like when Kelly’s uncles seranaded them during their toast, complete with a choreographed dance number! There was also so much joy! During bridal portraits, when ever I sillily sang to Kelly that she was about to go get married, her face lit up into the biggest smile! Kelly is such a laid back and sweet person, that even when a guest accidentally spilled their white wine down the front of her gorgeous lace BHLDN wedding dress on the dance floor, it didn’t even faze her! She just kept dancing and smiling and mingling with her guests!
Zach and Kelly, thank you for entrusting me to tell the story of your wedding day (and so glad you guys didn’t freeze like you did for your engagement photos)!! It’s an honor that I never take lightly and I’m so happy I was able to document these moments for you to cherish for the years to come. This is the start of your legacy and your history together and your photographs will allow you to relive the memories over and over again! I hope you love them!! xx. Jen
