Katie & AJ had an intimate rooftop Downtown Market Grand Rapids wedding this past September with their closest family & friends! Katie & AJ had to change wedding plans not once, not twice, but FOUR times due to covid. I’ll never forget the phone call I received from Katie when her plan B fell through and her venue cancelled all remaining 2020 weddings there, including hers. She was in tears, but went back to the drawing board and reimagined her plans. She ended up dreaming up the most perfect, beautiful day for her & AJ on a rooftop in GR overlooking the city and I just LOVED being a part of it!! Katie got ready at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel the morning of her wedding day with her mom and future mother-in-law! After popping a bottle of bubbly, her mom zipped her into her beautiful lace dress. Katie has major Vanessa Hudgens vibes & every time she spoke, I swear she sounded just like her (and she looks so much like her too)!! We took a few bridal portraits & then she headed out to see AJ for their first look! Their first look was one of my favorite moments from their wedding day & Katie couldn’t help but shed a few years when she saw her groom for the first time!! We wandered around the streets of Grand Rapids capturing bride & groom photos & then headed to a cool city lookout to finish up before heading to Downtown Market for the ceremony!
Katie’s 3 adorable flower girls headed down the aisle before her Dad walked her down to where AJ was waiting! They had such a beautiful ceremony (and what better backdrop than a rooftop overlooking Grand Rapids)!! A guitarist played music during the ceremony & my favorite moment was when AJ dropped their rings & everyone laughed!! After they were pronounced husband & wife, they cut the cake, & then went to join their guests too party the night away on a beautiful Grand Rapids day!!
Katie & AJ, thank you for trusting me to document your wedding day & preserve these memories for you! It was such a beautiful day surrounded by those dearest to you! I hope you love & cherish these images for the decades to come!! Much love, Jen. xx
