I’ve been on a My Best Friend’s Wedding kick the past few weeks and it made me so excited for Samantha & Adam’s downtown Chicago engagement session! It’s kind of ironic, but most of my all-time favorite movies I watch over and over revolve around weddings (Sixteen Candles, It Takes Two, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Because I Said So, 27 Dresses, Something Borrowed, The Parent Trap, etc…). Anyways, if you haven’t seen My Best Friend’s Wedding, it is hilarious and adorable. It features Julia Roberts pining after her best friend, Dermot Mulroney, on the weekend of his wedding to a super young Cameron Diaz. It’s set in Chicago and I seriously want to photograph a wedding so bad at The Drake Hotel (where a good chunk of the movie takes place)! I met up with Sam and Adam on a hot and muggy Chicago evening and you would never guess it from the photos because these two were pros in front of the camera. After ducking back and forth under awnings for a bit while a rain storms passed through, we were able to sneak back outside and finish up the session! The city streets of Chicago and the stunning skyline are pretty much what black and white photo dreams are made of! I was so tempted to turn every single photos of these two black and white because there’s just something about B&W in a city with movement and emotion that makes it even more beautiful! Sam and Adam are getting married next July and I cannot wait to photograph their big day!
