I arrived at Caitlin’s hotel room in Downtown Ann Arbor on the morning of her wedding at 6:30 AM and she was just as bright and chipper as ever! Caitlin has an infectious laugh and smile and is one of those people who lights up any room she walks into! Her bridesmaids were all so sweet and kind, taking time to say hello and chat with me, never letting the fact that they had already been up for hours getting their hair and make-up done bring down the energy in the room. They say you are the product of the people you surround yourself with and Caitlin’s girl crew was just as awesome as she is, which is no suprise!
Once Caitlin got into her gorgeous trumpet dress from The Dowry Bridal Salon with the help of her twin sister and maid of honor, Savannah, and her mom and grandma adjusted her gorgeous veil, we headed out to the Michigan campus for their first look. I literally don’t think there is a more perfect spot for a first look than the location we chose! All of that beautiful marble at my alma mater is just stunning! It’s so funny because I had class in this building almost every single day during my four years at Michigan as the political science department is located in it and most of my larger communications classes were in the lecture halls there, but I never really truly appreciated the beauty and those gorgeous steps on my way to class each day. Caitlin and Chris opted to take all of their photos beforehand, including the family formals, which I absolutely loved because after the ceremony they were able to enjoy cocktail hour and spending time with their guests and not have to worry about taking more photos!
Once photos were done, we headed a few blocks over to Vinology, and awesome wine bar in downtown Ann Arbor where their ceremony and brunch reception were taking place. Caitlin’s mom walked her down the aisle to Chris and once they were pronounced husband and wife the party got started! The DJ kept the dance floor packed and Caitlin and her bridesmaids barely left it during the reception! One of my favorite parts of the day was just seeing how excited Chris and Caitlin were to marry each other! Chris wrote Caitlin the sweetest letter that she read in the morning once she was finished getting ready and she cried tears of joy at his sweet words.
Caitlin and Chris, thank you for trusting me to capture your wedding day and give you these wonderful memories that you and your family can look back on for years to come. I hope you love and treasure them always! Much love, Jen. xx
