Laura and Anu met around Halloween time at a party at their church. Laura was dressed up as a kitty cat and happened to be standing near Anu’s office. Anu had already left, but realized that he had forgotten a flash drive he needed and went back for it. Thank goodness for the flash drive, because he bumped into Laura in the hall on his way back to his office and the rest was history! Both Laura and Anu tied little touches into their wedding day that referenced how they met! Anu had the very same flash drive he forgot that day with him in his room at The Henry as he got ready and Laura gifted her bridesmaids the cutest royal blue Kate Spade cat robes to wear while they were getting their hair & make-up done! Laura & Anu live in Chicago, but headed back to Laura’s home state of Michigan to tie the knot amongst family and friends. The venue they chose, Lovett Hall, fit their classic and timeless style perfectly and their day was stunning from start to finish!
Laura wore the most beautiful lace Vera Wang wedding dress that looked like it was made for her along with the matching lace appliqué cathedral length lace veil. It was the most exquisite veil I’ve ever seen in person! Vera Wang knows weddings!! Anu wore a fitted navy and black tuxedo from The Black Tux and these two were the chicest couple on their wedding day! For their first look, we headed to the iconic staircase in the Henry Ford Museum. Anu waited for Laura on the landing as she walked down the stunning baby blue staircase towards him. They held hands when Laura reached him and Anu said a wedding day prayer with her before turning around and seeing his beautiful bride for the first time! He had the sweetest reaction to seeing her and that’s one of my favorite parts of doing a first look! After taking photographs of them and their wedding party at the museum, they headed over to the garden with Ivy covered walls just outside Lovett Hall to get married. About 5 minutes into the ceremony, it started to rain. Laura & Anu ran to the covered walkway into Lovett Hall and all of their guests moved over & huddled around them, lighting them with the flashlights on their phones, as they exchanged vows & rings. It was not the plan, but it was an intimate and magical moment closely surrounded by all of those they love most! After they were pronounced husband & wife, the party moved up to the ballroom where after the cake was cut, toasts were given and dinner was eaten, the Blue Water Kings entertained guests on the dance floor as they danced the night away!
Laura & Anu, thank you so much for trusting me to capture on of the most important days of your lives! I’ve enjoyed getting to know you both over this past year and had so much fun hanging out with your family and friends on your wedding day! I hope you and cherish these pictures for decades to come. Wishing you love & happiness! Much love, Jen. xx
