Mara & Doug were married the last Saturday in November & it was a beautiful day filled with so much emotion. There was laughter and tears and joy and a special appearance by their puppy as they came together to become husband and wife! The day started at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham. Mara got ready with all of her bridesmaids while Doug got ready with his groomsmen. Mara’s bridesmaids all wore matching Christmas onesies as they got ready, which played a fun role in the wedding later (you’ll see)!! Mara’s mom zipped her into her stunning fitted satin dress before she opened the doors to the suite for a reveal with her bridesmaids! The girls were all shocked when they saw Mara because unbeknownst to them, she ended up getting a completely different dress than the one she said yes to when they went dress shopping and only one of the girls knew!! It was so fun having all of her bridesmaids truly see her in her wedding dress for the first time!!
Mara’s uncle walked her down the aisle and she shared a few emotional moments with him and her brother at the back of the church before the doors opened and he walked her to a waiting Doug. Mara & Doug’s ceremony at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament was one of the best wedding ceremonies I’ve ever witnessed. Their priest was hilarious and had fun with them during his homily on this joyous day! There were also many happy tears shed as Mara & Doug became husband and wife!
Afterwards, we took photos outside of the church (does it not remind you of Notre Dame or Westminster Abbey?) before heading over to the Christmas market in Cadillac Square for some festive photos!! Everyone arrived back at the Townsend for the reception and after some beautiful & emotional speeches, the party got started when Mara’s bridesmaids surprised her by choreographing a dance to Jingle Bell Rock, wearing the Christmas onesies she gave them! Mara’s face when she realized what was happening was priceless!! After figuring out what was going on, she joined in on the fun on the dance floor!!
Mara & Doug, it has been such a joy getting to know you both over the past year!!! From your AMAZING engagement session in Central Park and a delicious breakfast after, to now your wedding day, I’ve enjoyed every bit!! Wishing you both lots of love & happiness always!! Much love, Jen. xx
